One sentence

Tripstitch is a native iPhone app that builds your travel itinerary and then carries it, pairing AI day-by-day planning with 3D maps, budgets, packing lists, phrasebooks, and everything else a trip needs once you are actually on it.

One paragraph

Tripstitch is an AI travel itinerary planner for iPhone, built by one developer in Utrecht. Tell it where you are going and it returns a complete day-by-day plan with activities, restaurants, timings, and travel times, drawn on a 3D map with real terrain and landmarks. The plan is where most AI travel tools stop and where this one starts: the same app holds a per-day budget breakdown, packing lists, tipping rules for 59 countries, phrasebooks in 65 languages, weather, currency conversion, plug types, accommodations, a home-screen widget, calendar sync, and offline access, in a native SwiftUI app built for iOS 26. It is free to download with a three-day full-access trial, after which a subscription is required, starting at $7.99 per month.

About Tripstitch

Ask any decent model for a five-day plan for Lisbon and you will get a reasonable one. That stopped being the hard part. The hard part is the twenty other things a trip needs, and every AI travel tool still hands you a wall of text and leaves you to open six other apps for the rest.

Tripstitch is a native iPhone app, and it treats the itinerary as the beginning. The plan arrives on a 3D map with real terrain and the landmarks modeled, the day’s route traced between its stops, each activity carrying its time, duration, and the walking minutes to the next one. While a day generates, a rendered globe flies to the destination, because a minute of staring at a progress bar is a minute the app can spend showing you where you are going. It is built in SwiftUI for iOS 26 on Apple’s Liquid Glass design language, and the difference between that and a web view wrapped in an app icon is visible in the first two seconds.

Then it keeps going. The same app holds a per-day budget broken down by category with the daily totals charted, packing lists written on the device, tipping rules for 59 countries, phrasebooks covering 65 languages, weather for each destination, currency conversion with local price examples, plug types with adapter warnings, accommodations, a home-screen widget, calendar sync, and share cards for sending a day to whoever is coming with you. Everything works offline and syncs across devices through iCloud. The breadth is the point: a trip is not one plan, it is a hundred small questions, and answering them in one place is most of what the app is.

The care shows in the parts nobody markets. Trip dates are stored in the destination’s timezone, so a Paris trip starting March 5 starts on March 5 no matter where it was booked from. Reminders fire at the right local hour. Add where you are staying and the first and last day of each region get planned around it, so a tired traveler is not sent 40 minutes across town for dinner. Costs are estimated per activity, with the caveat printed in the app: they are model estimates, roughly right for major cities and off by 30 to 50 percent where the data is thin.

The AI underneath is deliberately unglamorous. Generation runs in two passes, an outline for the shape of the trip and then each day written on its own, which is why day five is as considered as day one. Three complete itineraries come back for every trip so the traveler picks rather than accepts. Mia never writes a place name from memory; she searches a self-hosted mirror of the Overture Maps dataset and picks from real results, in the destination’s own language. Tripstitch publishes the benchmark it uses to choose its model and currently runs on Gemini 3.7 Flash, which scored 90.5 on that index in August 2026.

Key features

Each line stands on its own, so it can be lifted straight into a piece.

  • Itineraries are drawn on a 3D map with real terrain and landmarks, with the day's route between stops traced on it, rather than presented as a list of place names.
  • While an itinerary generates, a rendered globe flies to the destination, so the minute the AI takes to plan is spent watching the trip arrive instead of watching a spinner.
  • The app carries the whole trip, not just the plan: a per-day budget breakdown by category, packing lists, tipping rules for 59 countries, phrasebooks covering 65 languages, weather forecasts, currency conversion with local price examples, and plug types with adapter warnings.
  • Tripstitch is a native SwiftUI app built for iOS 26 with Apple's Liquid Glass design language, with a home-screen widget, calendar sync, activity reminders, and share cards for sending a day to whoever is coming along.
  • Tripstitch generates a full day-by-day itinerary in about a minute, with morning, afternoon, and evening activities, restaurant picks, and the travel time between each stop.
  • The app produces three complete itinerary options for every trip, previewed on the map, so the traveler picks a plan rather than accepting the first one.
  • Mia, the in-app AI travel companion, answers questions about opening hours, local customs, and what to wear, and edits the itinerary on request without regenerating the whole trip.
  • Traveler profiles carry dietary restrictions, walking comfort, pace, and budget across trips, and the itinerary balances the preferences of everyone in the group.
  • Trip dates are stored in the destination's own timezone, so a Paris trip starting March 5 starts on March 5 regardless of where the traveler is when they book it, and activity reminders fire in local time rather than the traveler's home one.
  • Trips sync across devices through iCloud and are readable offline, and packing lists are written on the device itself with Apple Intelligence on iPhones that support it.
  • Every place in an itinerary is resolved against a self-hosted mirror of the Overture Maps dataset before it reaches the user, so the app does not invent restaurants or attach the wrong coordinates to a real one.

About the developer

Camille Scholtz is an independent developer based in Utrecht, Netherlands, and the only person working on Tripstitch. No funding, no team, no contractors: the iOS app, the Laravel backend, the place-data infrastructure, and this website are one person’s work.

The development blog documents that work in detail, including the parts that went wrong: the original architecture, what shipped in the two months after launch, and why version 2.0 rebuilt the entire map layer. Those posts are fair game to quote.
